- Artists in Residency
O Palácio, by Lígia Soares and Paula Diogo, is in residence from 15 to 21 August at Espaço Alkantara.
Posing questions related to the tension between the immaterial aspect of “culture”, and the material waste involved in the making of sets in the performing arts, O Palácio begins a research on how to free the artistic creation from the acquisition of perennial goods for a temporary activity.
Through an action of raising and redistribution of goods, this project aims to transform Teatro do Bairro Alto into a temporary storage space - a depot - inviting audiences to experience the fruition of a moment where objects are no longer necessary but were not yet redirected to become useful again.
While inviting the audience to experience a space cluttered with goods accumulated in houses, as a consequence of sedentariness, the show will allow them to wander, offering each person the possibility to meander or choose where to rest. In this way, your attention is allowed to sway, like a gleaner in fertile woods, between detail and landscape.
To create this show, Paula Diogo and Lígia Soares are asking for the public's help by donating objects that will build this temporary storage.

Her creations tend to be minimalist and take on various formats, including performance, stage pieces, video/audio works, and publications. In recent years, she has worked across the broad spectrum of the performing arts, blending...
