
Francisca Pinto
FRANCISCA PINTO was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1988. A dancer/performer, interpreter, and creator, she is deeply curious and engaged in various practices of the body and imagination. She graduated from the National Conservatory Dance School in 2006 and earned a degree from the Lisbon Higher School of Dance in 2009. She also attended the Master's program in Communication Sciences – Communication and the Arts at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University Lisbon.
Since 2010, she has been involved in various projects as a dancer and performer, collaborating with artists such as Martine Pisani, Clara Andermatt, Lia Rodrigues, Jonas&Lander, Bruno Alexandre, Sofia Dias & Vítor Roriz, Catarina Miranda, Dani Lima, and Tânia Carvalho, among others. In 2015/2016, she worked closely with Lia Rodrigues as a performer and assistant in Para que o Céu não Caia with Lia Rodrigues Companhia de Danças, a partnership supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. During this period, she also worked as a dance teacher in the Núcleo 2 project at the Escola Livre de Dança da Maré in Rio de Janeiro. She teaches Contemporary Dance, Interpretation, and Performing Arts workshops for children, young people, and adults as a guest instructor at institutions such as the Lisbon Higher School of Dance, Estúdios Vítor Córdon (Portugal), and Escola Livre de Dança da Maré (Brazil). A yoga practitioner since 2010, she completed her instructor training at CPYOGA in Lisbon. She also practices Kung Fu, embroidery, forró dance, vegetarian cooking, drawing, and other activities. In 2014, she attended Modules 3 and 4 of the PEPCC – Choreographic Research and Creation Study Program at Fórum Dança in Lisbon, under the guidance of Patrícia Portela and Lia Rodrigues.
In 2020, she premiered her solo piece QUERER PARA VER as part of the Cartografias program at Fórum Dança. Since 2022, she has been a member of the collective Um Cavalo Disse Mamãe, where she co-created the pieces TAMBÉM SE MATAM CAVALOS and QUANDO EU MORRER ME ENTERREM NA FLORESTA, which premiered in May 2023 at the Transborda Festival in Almada.
