Joana Reais
Joana Reais is a multifaceted Portuguese artist whose work weaves together music, research, and activism. With a distinctive musical style that intertwines Lusophone, tropicalist, and African influences, Joana’s compositions reflect the richness of her cultural heritage — shaped in particular by her Mozambican grandmother, who encouraged her to sing from an early age. She is recognised not only for her voice and artistic sensitivity but also for her commitment to inclusion through art.
With experience in performance, creation, curation, and education, Joana also works as a researcher and speaker, frequently invited to take part in cultural sector conferences in Portugal and Brazil. She collaborates with organisations such as Associação Salvador, the Portuguese Association for Music in Hospitals, and Acesso Cultura — where she serves on the board — promoting projects focused on participation, innovation, and physical, social, and attitudinal accessibility.
Having performed in cities such as Lisbon, Barcelona, and Rio de Janeiro, Joana uses music as a tool for dialogue, awareness, and empowerment, bringing her art to a wide range of artistic, educational, and community contexts — always with a focus on diversity and social transformation.
