Luciano B. Cieza
Luciano B. Cieza (Buenos Aires,1983) is a multidisciplinary artist working with film, video, photography, poetry, music, and performance art. He holds a bachelor’s degree in experimental film from the San Francisco Art Institute in California and also studied multimedia art at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. He has carried out films, performances and exhibitions in Argentina, Brazil, France, U.S.A, Portugal and Belgium. His films have been shown in different film festivals like Rencontres Internationales Paris Berlin, and BAFICI Buenos Aires Film Festival. He has practiced butoh dance with Rhea Volij, and participated in several dance, performance, and video workshops with with Tino Sehgal, Gary Hill, João Fiadeiro, Mariana Tegner Barros, Vera Mantero, Vânia Vaneau, Nacera Belaza, Mathieu Bouvier, and Marcelo Evelin.
Within his artistic practice, in a context of unbearability and misery, he tries to develop strategies to challenge rationalist absurdity and to create portals of rebellion that can restitute a belief in the living. His challenge is to question how to go from alienation and immobility into resistance and belief.
