Gio Lourenço & Sofia Berberan in residency at Espaço Alkantara
Sobre o Fim [About the End]

- 02.02 — 15.02 2026
Between 2 and 15 February, Gio Lourenço and Sofia Berberan are in residency at Espaço Alkantara, developing their new performance Sobre o Fim.
Sobre o Fim [About the End] begins with the end of a romantic relationship, evolving into a reflection on the idea of endings, both individual and collective. The project explores territories of intersection between Humans and Plants, a kind of botanical memory, creating a shared hallucination, an atmosphere, which gives rise to the possible fiction of this encounter. What matter remains rooted in the end of love? The end is not merely a point of rupture, but an opening for new fictions that emerge from collapse. Plants transform ashes into roots.
The stage design explores botanical performativity and incorporates carnivorous plants, aphrodisiac plants, dream-inducing plants, and plants with healing properties. The sound design is based on sounds produced by the plants, combining pre-recorded sounds with live, real-time plant-generated sounds.
