From March 31 to April 6, Jorge Ciprianno will occupy the studio at Espaço Alkantara to develop the project Oṣe Odù - O feminino que nos liberta.
Jorge Ciprianno is a dancer, choreographer, and art educator from Salvador, Bahia. He began his journey in dance at 13 and trained at the Escola da Fundação Balé Folclórico da Bahia. He was part of the cast of The Lion King in Hamburg and London and founded the Agadá Contemporary Afro Dance Company in Portugal. In 2023, he presented the performance Okanran: A Origem at the Alkantara Festival and the Gaivotas no Pátio Programme. He believes in the transformative power of art, intertwining ancestry and innovation.
From 7 to 13 of April, it will be Mariana Barros' turn to be in residency, with Futuros e Ancestrais.
Mariana Barros is a multi-artist performer based in Lisbon, with a degree in Theatre from UNESPAR and a specialisation in Sound Art from Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She has participated in creations and collaborations presented in galleries, festivals, and biennials across Latin America and Europe. Notable achievements include winning the Best Actress award at the Troféu Gralha Azul (2018) for the play CriÂnsia by ProcessoMultiartes, as well as her performances Corpo Espetacular and ES| SURFACE.
The presentations of the four works developed during the residencies are scheduled for 25 and 26 July 2025.
Precárias III: Festival de Performance (PIII:FP)
Precárias is a performance festival devised and conceived by Tita Maravilha. An intercultural and community creation project dedicated to empowering and instrumentalising dissident bodies and thoughts, with a focus on trans, queer, non-binary, feminist and non-white bodies-identities.
The festival promotes intersectionality, collective creation and the valorisation of marginal narratives, guaranteeing safe and accessible spaces for artistic experimentation and sharing. This year's theme, CORPAS BRINCANTES, invites reflection on childhood and its multiple possibilities — rethinking the future and promoting spaces for dialogue and exchange.
