A year after their intervention in Lisbon’s Marvila neighbourhood, the Japanese collective Chim↑Pom from Smappa!Group returns to share, on screen, the memories and emotions of the days they spent engaging with local communities.

Side Trip was presented by Engawa – Season of Japanese Contemporary Art at CAM and the 2023 Alkantara Festival. It included a programme of parties, performances, and workshops that reclaimed the street as a space for socialising. In addition to a screening at CAM, the film will also be shown at the Marvila Library, bringing together some of the people who participated in the making of the project.
