violetas is an intimate dance piece where dancers exist and resist in a minimalist environment. Here the dancing body is unique and enough. violetas – which dispenses with music, set and light – plays with our expectations and perceptions. Set in the shadows, the work allows for multiple readings. It creates a malleable, complex, and subjective universe, proposing a reflection about what we imagine and what we presume.

Open Studio is an invitation to meet artists in their place of work for an informal showing or a conversation about an upcoming premiere. This year, dance-maker Vânia Doutel Vaz opens the doors of Casa da Dança in Almada for a glimpse into her first group piece, violetas, will be presented at the Alkantara Festival in 2025.
