Ana Rita Teodoro & Ricardo Vieira Lisboa

While choreographer Ana Rita Teodoro is in residency with FoFo, we open the doors of Espaço Alkantara for a screening of Larry Clark’s 1995 film Kids, followed by a conversation with Ana Rita Teodoro and film critic and programmer Ricardo Vieira Lisboa.

For Teodoro, Clark’s classic 90s coming-of-age film is a reference. In it, like in Clark’s 2002 film Ken Park or Harmony Korine’s Gummo (1997), Teodoro sees bodies and characters that carry the weight of the violent contexts in which they live. The relationship between Clark and Teodoro’s work may never be explicit, but it is worth watching the film together to talk about what in it interests her, or Vieira Lisboa, or anyone else who might want to join the conversation.

Ricardo Vieira Lisboa (Lisboa, 1991) holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, and a master’s degree in Cinema – Directing and Dramaturgy. He works as a film programmer for IndieLisboa and occasionally as a curator for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He is a film critic for À Pala de Walsh, a website he co-edits and co-founded. He has directed experimental short films and video essays.
