Inês Gonçalves

Inês Gonçalves

A multidisciplinary artist with a visual impairment, Inês Gonçalves was born in Olhão in 1999. In 2020, she completed a degree in Artistic Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. Alongside her studies, she was part of TEUC – Teatro dos Estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra, an autonomous body of the University of Coimbra, where she served on the management board and worked as a performer.

In July 2024, she completed a degree in Theatre – Acting at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School.

In 2022, she performed in WOW, a production by creator Sónia Baptista. In 2023, she co-created and performed in Fora da Norma with Mélanie Monteiro, a project curated by choreographer and dancer Diana Niepce in Loulé. She attended the course Pensar a Audiodescrição em Dança Contemporânea (Thinking About Audio Description in Contemporary Dance), developed by Associação Parasita, where she contributed to the audio description script for choreographer João dos Santos Martins’ Vida e Obra. She also worked in creation support and dramaturgy on Dentro da Cabeça, by creator Márcia Lança, as well as developing the production’s audio description script in collaboration with dancer Sara Anjo.

She has worked as an audio description consultant on the following productions: Cooperativa, a collective creation presented at Teatro do Bairro Alto; Sonhos Comuns, by Ana Rita Teodoro, premiered at Culturgest; Michel – os animais que eu sou, by Chiara Bersani, presented at CAM – Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian; and Hornfuckers, by Diana Niepce, premiered at Culturgest. She also worked as an audio description consultant for the 2025 edition of Mostra Ampla.

At the end of 2025, she collaborated as a mediator for the Alkantara Festival. Alongside her professional work, she completed the training programme Encruzilhadas Artísticas para Criar, Resistir e Subverter (Artistic Crossroads for Creating, Resisting and Subverting), curated and coordinated by Joyce Souza and promoted by Teatro Nacional D. Maria II. In October 2025, she worked as an actor in the monologue Amar um Cão, based on a text by Maria Gabriela Llansol and directed by Jean Paul Bucchieri. She is currently collaborating as a performer and creator on Corpos Inomináveis, by Companhia Mente de Cão, directed by Joana Pupo.
