Joana Levi

Joana Levi (Rio de Janeiro, 1975) is a performer, director, and dramaturge. She lives in Lisbon since 2017. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Philosophy and Aesthetics. Her work is penetrated by different artistic languages (live art, theatre, dance, philosophy) and is developed through shared authorship. In recent years, she has worked with Carlota Lagido (PT), Sónia Baptista (PT), Rita Natálio (PT), João dos Santos Martins (PT), Gustavo Ciríaco (PT-BR), and Julia Salem (BR-PT), among others. Highlights of work produced in Brazil include: Museu Encantador (Funarte Visual Arts Prize) in collaboration with Rita Natálio; Rózà (Zé Renato Theatre Award) in collaboration with Martha Kiss; and In_Trânsito, with Companhia Marginal. In the past 20 years, she has researched the relationship between the body, processes of the imagination, sensorial perception, and dramaturgy. She had taught courses for artists and non-artists of all ages in theatres, schools, and universities in several Brazilian states.
