Sílvia das Fadas is a filmmaker, researcher, and teacher. She holds a master’s degree in film from the California Institute of the Artes (USA) and was artist-in-residence at Akademie Schloss Solitude (Alemanha). She is a doctoral candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna (Austria) and a researcher at the Center for Place Culture and Politics, CUNY (USA). Her films refuse the digitalisation of the world and include Luz, Clarão, Fulgor — Augúrios Para Um Enquadramento Não Hierárquico e Venturoso (2018-2020), A Casa, a Verdadeira e a Seguinte, Ainda Está por Fazer (2015-2018), Square Dance, Los Angeles County, California, 2013 and Apanhar Laranjas/Picking Oranges (2012). She is interested in the politics that are intrinsic to film practices and in cinema as a collective and expanded practice.
