Baralho Amparo & Encanto

The next publication-artefact by AND Lab, Baralho Amparo & Encanto [Comfort & Charm Deck], aims to bring together, investigate and systematise the ritual practices emerging from the application of the AND Operative Mode and its concept-tools.

Part of an ongoing creation process that will unfold over time, Baralho Amparo & Encanto operates as a complement to the AND Book-Box. Emphasising that the activation of the concept-tools takes place on the somatic plane in an embodied manner, ritual practices adopt psychosomagic action as a methodology – drawing inspiration from Alejandro Jodorowsky’s concept of psychomagic. Soma, understood in an expanded sense as something that does not end at the boundaries of the skin or reduce itself to the physical body, is conceived as a field of inseparability in which it becomes possible to re-pair the irreparable at personal, transpersonal and infrapersonal levels – traversing from the microscopic to the cosmic, passing through the human.

From the creation process of the Baralho Amparo & Encanto artefact, intermediate objects of different orders emerge: video-performance, performance-installation and performance-presentation. These will be integrated into the final artefact while simultaneously taking shape and existing independently throughout the process.

The proposed experiences – which are ritual-performances– allow the process of understanding and incorporating the concept-tools to take place within the sensorial plane, that is, at the level of sensations, granting access to the sensitive experience of inseparability.

Throughout the residency, we will focus on five pairs of embodied experiences, which will therefore be “decked” into five psychosomagic actions: Dis-solution and Re-mediation / Dis-cernment and Re-membering / Dis-illusion and Restoration / Dis-cision and Restitution / (Dis)Integration and Re-calling. These will be offered to the public in an open sharing at the end of the residency, on 28 March (time to be announced).
