Chiara Bersani is looking for 3 performers with motor disabilities
For the new creation Michel: The Animals I Am

- 20.03 — 03.04 2025
Applications are open for performers with motor disabilities
Chiara Bersani is looking for performers with physical and motor disabilities to be part of her new creation, Michel: The Animals I Am — production and its related tour. Michel: The Animals I Am is supported by the Alkantara/Centro de Arte Moderna - Gulbenkian and LIFT Festival (UK).
Michel: The Animals I Am arises from the desire to transform a solo into a choir, to assimilate the concept of exception, and to return an idea of collectivity. It draws on two legacies: on one hand, the research that explores the language of classical ballet, specifically The Dying Swan, in order to transcend, sift, and rethink it through access to a plurality of bodies.
Chiara Bersani's new creation stems from her solo L'Animale, which premiered in 2021 and is now seeking to “explode”, becoming chorus, refraction, unexpected event, dialogue, harmony, and thunder. A question arises: If classical repertoire demands to be performed by bodies adhering to a very specific model, can a repertoire exist that applies the same rigid criteria but to other bodies adhering to different models?
Michel: The Animals I Am will be presented at Alkanrara Festival 2025.
