matéria leve

The Alkantara Festival once again welcomes the matéria leve study group, a space for collective learning that will attend a selection of performances presented as part of the festival.
Starting from the premise that performances are, above all, invitations into particular states of attention, the group examines the relational architectures that host them and enable specific ways of seeing and listening. It approaches the space in which a performance takes place as a territory we are invited to enter.
Drawing on the languages commonly used in the performing arts – such as lighting, sound, scenography, and others – we want to ask the following questions: What kind of place does this work create? What possibilities for meaning does it open up? What ways of seeing and listening does it propose? What relationships do we encounter? What gestures might nurture them? What are we being invited into?
