On the second day of Free Reforest School, we will meet Paulo Tavares, a Brazilian architect and author whose practice takes place at the interfaces between architecture, visual arts and advocacy, inhabiting the forest as a decolonial and anti-hegemonic architectural space.
WORKSHOP - 'Space is law, architecture is advocacy' by Paulo Tavares
SLTM-SALA BERNARDO SASSETI
PARTICIPATION FORM HERE
In this workshop, Paulo Tavares explores space and its forms of representation as fields of power relations and conflict. He mobilises spatial practices – via design, mapping, digital, curation and writing – in their aesthetic and political dimensions, as tools in the fight for human and non-human rights.
CONFERENCE - 'Reparation' with Paulo Tavares moderated by Rita Natálio
SLTM-SALA MARIO VIEGAS
In this discussion, Paulo Tavares explores some of his recent projects, such as Des-Habitat; Trees, palms, forests and other architectural monuments; and the curation of the Chicago Architecture Biennale (2019) and of Acts of Repair (2021), in order to speculate on a possible “architecture of reparation”. By appropriating and subverting media and languages, these projects transform the spatial practices of design, writing and curating into arenas for the affirmation of rights and advocacy.
