Cão Solteiro is a Lisbon-based platform of artists working across different practices, developing theatre projects since 1997.

Over the years, it has shaped a working process grounded in the making of images, in which different artistic languages come into contact and codes move between disciplines. Through this process, Cão Solteiro continues to question theatre’s formal relevance and to test the resilience of its structural rules, placing emphasis on the act of construction itself and on the ways communication is produced within this context. Its tools include the displacement of formal elements and meaning, deliberate misplacement, absurd intrusions, error, and outright lies.
