
Caroline Barneaud
Caroline Barneaud has worked in the performing arts for over 20 years, first within a theatre company, then for 10 years as a producer at the Festival d’Avignon, before joining the leadership team of Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne in 2013. As director of artistic and international projects at this theatre dedicated to contemporary creation, she contributes to the conception, programming, and production of artistic projects, and collaborates with local and international artists and institutions.
In this context, she has notably contributed to the creation and dramaturgy of Temple du présent – Solo pour Octopus and Ceci n’est pas une ambassade (Made in Taiwan) by Stefan Kaegi/Rimini Protokoll, as well as Sustainable Theatre?, which became part of the European project STAGES. In 2023, she co-created with Stefan Kaegi the European project Performing Landscape and the artistic project Paysages Partagés, bringing together 11 invited international artists and recreated by and with 7 European cultural institutions.
Caroline Barneaud has a particular interest in artistic projects that question contemporary society, cross disciplines and fields, explore new formats, and expand the possibilities of theatre as a place, an institution, and an art form. In 2024/2025, she is in residence at Villa Massimo in Rome.
