Jorge Ciprianno is an Afro-diasporic artist, dancer, director and body researcher born in Salvador, Bahia. His practice brings together spirituality, politics, Black embodiment and ancestral memory as tools for transformation, healing and the creation of presence. A graduate of the Fundação Balé Folclórico da Bahia School, he joined Balé Jovem de Salvador and performed in international productions such as *The Lion King* (Disney, Hamburg and London), where he worked as Dance Captain under the guidance of Thea Nerissa Barnes.
In Lisbon, he founded Agadá Cia. de Dança Afro Contemporânea, through which he has developed the Ọ̀kànràn methodology, centred on the relationship between body, spirituality, ancestry and political action. His creations include Ọ̀kànràn – A Origem (Alkantara Festival, 2023), Igbadu – O Céu e a Terra, Rainhas – O Diálogo das Águas (MAAT, 2025) and Aqui Eu Posso Sonhar (Precárias III – Espaço Alkantara, 2025). He also works as an educator and mentor, creating spaces for learning and inclusion for Black, migrant and LGBTQIAP+ artists.
