Tita Maravilha studied Performing Arts at the University of Brasília. She describes herself as an “inventor of universes” and says that she brings into her artistic processes “the pains and pleasures of being a dissident body”. Born in Brazil, she took part in various performances and projects in her home country before moving to Portugal, where she has lived since 2018.

A multidisciplinary artist, she develops the project Trypas Corassão — a powerful blend of electronic music and performance — and is the creator of several original works, including Tita no País das Maravilhas (2021), Exercício para Performers Medíocres (2021), Exercício para um Teatro Pobre ou Carta a Grotowski (2022) and Es Tr3s Irms (2022/2026), winner of the 5th edition of the Amélia Rey Colaço Grant. In 2026, she premiered a new work, Bossa Nova, at FITEI, in collaboration with Teatro Municipal do Porto, and at Teatro-Cine de Torres Vedras.

She has worked as a performer and creator in productions by Carlota Lagido, Sónia Baptista, Companhia Estrutura, Xana Novais, Odete, Keli Freitas and Raquel André.

She is an associate artist at Espaço do Tempo, where she returns at least once a year to develop projects and artistic practices.

Together with the artist Cigarra, she runs Trypas Corassão Associação Cultural, which, alongside its own projects, hosts and supports other artists, particularly women, immigrants and dissident bodies, providing financial representation and support with funding applications.

She was a jury member for PT.24 and Queer Lisboa in 2024.

She is also a programmer for Precárias: Festival de Performance, which, over three editions, has taken place in Lisbon, Viseu, Montemor-o-Novo, Porto and Paris, establishing itself as a space for artistic resistance and experimentation.

Tita Maravilha’s work celebrates individuality and the creation of spaces for dialogue and a sense of community. She explores the boundaries between different artistic practices, combining aesthetic and critical dimensions with a touch of humour and activism.

In recognition of the political and transformative power of theatre, Tita Maravilha won the 2024 edition of the Ageas Teatro Nacional D. Maria II Emerging Artist Award.
