Paula Diogo was born in the suburbs of Lisbon, with no familial ties to the arts. Her interest in books and stories led her to study Literature and later Theater. Her work is strongly influenced by the environment around her, as well as her upbringing and family history. She explores themes such as legacy, memory, autobiography, and belonging. Her creations tend to be minimalist and take on various formats, including performance, stage pieces, video/audio works, and publications.
In recent years, she has worked across the broad spectrum of the performing arts, blending production and creation, developing ideas and projects for specific contexts, and participating in informal discussion groups. She studied in Portugal and Iceland, co-founded several collectives, and has collaborated with companies and artists in Portugal and abroad. Her creations have been presented in Portugal, Iceland, Germany, Serbia, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, France, Italy, and Belgium.
She is one of the artists supported by the apap - FEMINIST FUTURES, a project co-financed by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union (2021-2024). She is also part of the Celestial Bodies collective, an international project dedicated to creating spaces that integrate practices of solidarity, care, empathy, and wonder.
