Relational architectures: collective imagination of a place and imagination of a collective place | lecture
with Carolina Campos and Leticia Skrycky
Starting from the idea that pieces are, above all, an invitation to a unique state of attention, we conceive scenic spaces as ephemeral architectures that articulate diverse materialities, summoning singular ways of seeing and listening, and of collectively inhabiting a duration. Together, we have been investigating this notion of "place" with a certain obsession, understanding that it is precisely within these territories in suspension that the singularity of each "piece-world," each "image-imagination," emerges.
To think of the craft of making pieces as an exercise in paying attention to that place which opens up between the material and the affective fields, within the relationships between disparate and often mysterious matters and forces. To think of lighting as a practice of listening and dramaturgy as that which emerges from the electricity between things. These different perspectives are ways of handling the complex tangle we call "pieces."
matéria leve is also a platform for investigating how a "place-piece" is born. In this conversation, we will share these ways of "making-thinking" that gave rise to the project.

matéria leve is a platform for research and training in stage lighting oordinated by Leticia Skrycky in collaboration with Carolina Campos, aimed at cisgender women, non-binary and transgender people.
