Using theatre and film, myth and biography, Please, Love Me! offers a reflection on memory, power, and gender.
Please, Love Me! tells the story of Klió, a pop singer acclaimed by audiences but ignored by critics, who decides to document her own story as she prepares to celebrate ten years of her career.
Haunted by an enigmatic entity and guided by a profound faith, Klió becomes convinced that the only way to free herself from the pain that permeates her existence is to make an offering to the gods. How far will she go to break the cycle of violence?
Drawing on Yoruba cosmology and mythical figures such as Medusa, Medea, and Lilith, Cleo Diára — and her alter ego Klió — offers a reflection on what it means to be a Black Cape Verdean woman in a patriarchal world.

Cléo Diára was born in 1987 in Cidade da Praia, Cabo Verde. She moved to Lisbon during childhood, where she completed most of her education. She began her theatrical journey with the university theater group Miscutem and, in 2012, enrolled at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. Since 2015, she has developed work as a multidisciplinary artist, performing in several theatrical projects by renowned Portuguese directors, including Mário Coelho, Mónica Calle, Pedro Baptista, Rogério Carvalho, and Sónia Baptista.
