In this workshop, choreographer Ali Chahrour explores the body as a carrier of memory, history and lived experience. Through movement, improvisation and choreographic exploration, participants are invited to discover the singularity of their own physical language.

Focusing on presence, space and time, the workshop approaches dance as a practice of movement and listening—to oneself, to others and to the surrounding space. By embracing slowness and attention to detail, participants will deepen their awareness of the relationship between body, memory, space, and movement.

Ali Chahrour

Born in Beirut, the choreographer and dancer Ali Chahrour creates a movement language freed from Western codes and models, reflecting his culture and the political, social, and religious context in which he lives. In an earlier series of works—his trilogy on death, Fatmeh (2014), Leila’s Death (2015), and May He Rise and Smell the Fragrance (2017)—he drew on funeral rituals, blending tradition with a striking sense of modernity.
