In this workshop, for professionals and students in performing arts, Idio Chichava explores technical elements for expanding bodily awareness, bringing together dance language, aesthetic appreciation, and the development of creativity.
Elements such as energy, repetition, and rhythm, based on the foundations of traditional Mozambican dances such as Makwaela, Xigubo, and Mapiko, are used to propose a dialogue between the choreographer and the body. Through floor-to-jump level transitions, the relationship between bodies and space, and the exploration of participants’ physical resistance, practical exercises in spontaneous composition and performance will be developed.
