Carolina Bianchi & Gabriela Moita
Violence and potency, in the feminine

In connection with Carolina Bianchi’s presence in the theatre programme of Culturgest, we propose a reflection on the forms of violence inflicted upon women and the modes of resistance, creation and transformation that respond to them, both in the public sphere and within intimate life. At a time when gender-based violence is intensifying and manifesting itself from an increasingly early age, it is vital to consider how it shapes freedom, the body and female autonomy — but also male autonomy — in both public and private contexts. The discussion will approach violence not only as a traumatic experience, but also as a field for analysis and transformation.
Carolina Bianchi is a theatre director and playwright internationally recognised for artistic work that confronts structures of power and gender-based violence, bringing together theatre, performance and Art History. Gabriela Moita is a psychologist and sexologist whose work on sexuality, gender and human rights has had a significant social impact in Portugal.
The lecture will be held in Portuguese.
