F.E.R.A. brings together publications related to the performing arts, showcasing the work of artists who use the documentation and/or graphic translation of their artistic practices and experiences as a means of producing and sharing thought. The diversity of publication formats reflects the importance of these processes in the trajectory of artists and collectives, consolidating their presence in the history of the artistic community.

In this edition in scope of (re)union, alongside the creation of a reading space featuring selected publications from the F.E.R.A. collection, author and performer Julia Salem presents her audiobook-publication Re-inscrever-se Pelo Chão (Re-inscribing Oneself Through the Ground) and activates a performance walk, What My Foot Tells Me, based on practices from the publication.
In addition, a conversation entitled Between the Body and the Page – Possible Paths will take place, featuring Julia Salem, Simão Costa (co-author with Marta Cerqueira of the publication #7Untitled · Dance of Inert Materials), and Marta Ramos (designer of both publications). The gathering aims to reflect on the artists’ creative processes and the relationship between performing arts and their respective forms of publishing.

Re-inscribing Oneself Through the Ground

A creation that dives into case studies of wandering, encounters with communities, dialogues with specialists, and walking-based experimentation across various territories of Portugal, both rural and urban (Beira, Alentejo, and Lisbon). Based on experiences gathered during research into routes of immigration, labour, and walking practices by researchers, walkers, and artists, the work uncovers traced, risky, and renegade paths.
