Casa Independente

The meeting point for Alkantara Festival 2026 is at Casa Independente.

After the performances, this is where we come together and connect – artists, audiences and communities – through dance, music, food, listening, performance and moments of togetherness.

Curated by DIDI, each day offers a unique experience combining different artistic languages and formats – from karaoke and DJ sets to inspiring performances and opportunities to connect with the Drag and Ballroom communities.

More than an extension of the programme, the Meeting Point is a space for hospitality, lingering and community-building, where the artistic experience of the theatre continues through informal, inclusive and collective moments.

ANCESTARS – Afrontosas Collective
Performance

ANCESTARS is a collective performative act honouring and celebrating queer ancestry. It is dedicated to the ancestors whose lives and technologies of resistance paved the way, shaped narratives and preserved the memories of LGBTQIA+ communities. In this performance, Afrontosas create a space for memory, celebration and exaltation, invoking the legacies of those who, before us, challenged norms, imagined new possibilities and made other ways of existing possible.

ANCESTARS is a call to revive these legacies: an encounter with those whose lives, bodies, struggles and creations expanded the horizons of what is possible, leaving us with tools to continue existing, creating and imagining collectively.

The Blacker The Berry Project
DJ set

The Blacker The Berry Project is a multidisciplinary artistic collective founded in 2021, dedicated to supporting and raising the visibility of emerging Black LGBTQ+ artists of African, Caribbean, Latin American and South American descent through creative, cultural and social interventions. It develops exhibitions, parties, workshops, residencies and gatherings for Black creative communities, fostering spaces for expression, collaboration and belonging.

The Blacker The Berry Crew will take over the night with plenty of Black Queer Magic. On the decks: DON’T CALL ME TAKO & Isma(El).

VINDOURES – Pedro Barbosa
Performance

On 20 November, Black Consciousness Day in Brazil, this performance takes place on a day of remembrance, resistance and continuity for Black Brazilian communities. Moving between presence, spoken word, music and spirituality, VINDOURES calls upon other temporalities and opens a passage towards futures yet to come.

We are not invoking the past. We are calling upon our ancestors for the future.

DJ set

In this special set performance, created in honour of Black Consciousness Day, DIDI brings together DJing, singing and live percussion to evoke ancestral memories and technologies. Through beats, voices and rhythms, the performance connects past, present and future, celebrating the Black sounds of Brazil and its diasporas.

Arte Contém Piranha – with Andrei Bessa and Shereya
Performance

ARTE CONTÉM PIRANHA is a performance by Andrei Bessa and Shereya – Act I (Bear.ing) and II (Gambiarra Dreams) – bringing together a school of big fish that crossed the ocean to flow into Lusophone lands, carrying plenty of irreverence, nudity and art in their luggage.

HOUSE MUSIC IS BLACK MUSIC Special – Chima Isaaro & DJ Caring
DJ set

Chima Isaaro and DJ Caring come together for a journey through the sounds born from the Black and LGBTQIA+ communities of Chicago and New York, sounds that transformed dance music forever. A set celebrating the freedom and collective power of the dancefloor, with some very special guests joining the party.

Karalhoke Alkantara Performatika – June João
DJ set

The legendary karaoke event Karalhoke comes to Alkantara Festival for a moment of communion between audiences, artists and team members, where more or less harmonious voices can cast off shame (their own and other people’s), reject the dominant logics of competitiveness and professionalism, and make room for pseudo-artistic gestures and genuinely performative acts. June João, the host, will organise the chaos (as far as possible) and facilitate a space for vocalised expressions – sometimes emotional, sometimes show-off, kitsch and/or brilliant.


FRIDAY, 27 NOV

Os SoNS de LISBOA, uma celebração à BATIDA
DJ set

Two generations come together to celebrate the strength and authenticity of Lisbon’s music. From the city’s outskirts to the world, Batida has become an unmistakable force in contemporary electronic music. Maribell and DJ Maboku [CDM] join forces for a night of Afrodiasporic rhythms, pulsating beats and high energy, bringing memory, present and future together.

DJ set

Saoco Sound is where the diaspora comes together through rhythm, where global riddims meet the rave. A space for those looking for an experience without fixed genres, limits or borders. Expect the unexpected.

On Fridays and Saturdays — free entry until 9 pm. From 9 pm onwards, admission is €7 (€5 redeemable at the bar).
