In their award-winning performance practice, the Indigenous Amazonian trans artist Uýra Sodoma uses their body as a medium for telling stories. In The interest in the Amazon is not the damn trees the artist holds a mirror up to the colonial denial of Amazonian realities and violations of the forestand its people, while also demonstrating the diversity and resilience of the beings that inhabit the rainforest.

Uýra Sodoma is a Biologist, Master of Ecology of the Amazon, Visual Artist and Art educator for traditional communities. Living in an industrial territory in the middle of the Forest, they transform themselves to become a Walking Tree, making use of organic materials only.
